On March 20, the Cluster Catalonia Logistics participated in a conference organized jointly with SHIPPERS - Consell d’Usuaris del Transport de Catalunya to analyze the new Sustainable Mobility Law applied to road freight transport.
The session was attended by around 90 participants, with the aim of discussing the main regulatory updates and the challenges posed by this legislation, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability and digitalization of the sector.
The event began with Josep Maria Fortuny Olivé, subdirector of the Department of Territory, who presented the main changes introduced by the new law and their impact on road freight transport. In this context, we also addressed the importance of improving the calculation and management of the carbon footprint, with the participation of TANDEM HSE, which provided practical tools to move towards more sustainable operations.
In the field of digitalization, Daniel Fernández Ruiz-Capillas, subdirector of mobility at the Generalitat de Catalunya, presented the PADEL-T platform as a key instrument to facilitate the digital transformation of the sector and respond to new regulatory requirements, particularly regarding the implementation of the digital transport control document.
This initiative is part of the rollout of the new regulation, which promotes the mandatory digitalization of control documentation as an essential element for traceability, administrative efficiency, and improved connection between sector stakeholders, facilitating the exchange of information between systems and platforms.
Likewise, Oriol Martori Gallissà, Managing Director of Velion Innova, presented the M³ data space, a proposal focused on data sharing and exploitation in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, aimed at improving territorial management and optimizing logistics operations.
Both the PADEL-T platform and the M³ data space reflect the commitment to move towards a more connected, efficient, and data-driven mobility ecosystem.
The event included a roundtable discussion between shippers and transport operators. It featured Carlos Folchi, President of Fenadismer, and Meritxell Arguera, Logistics Manager at Schütz Ibérica, who discussed the implications of the new law for the transport sector.
From the Cluster Catalonia Logistics, we would like to thank all speakers and participants for their involvement in this space for collective reflection, which contributes to driving the sector’s transition towards a more sustainable, digital, and competitive transport model.
